Why do some companies pay monthly dividends?
Most monthly payers are structured as REITs, BDCs or royalty trusts that generate steady rental, interest or royalty income and are required to distribute most of it. Paying monthly matches the cash they receive and appeals to income-focused shareholders.
Is a monthly dividend better than a quarterly one?
Not by itself. The frequency changes when you receive cash, not how much. Total annual dividends, dividend safety and total return matter far more than the payment schedule.
Do monthly dividend stocks pay more?
Some of the highest yielders pay monthly, but yield and frequency are unrelated. Several monthly payers have cut their dividends in the past, so check the payout history and the risk flags on each ticker page.
